Catch the winter wildlife action with Yellowstone Forever—the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park!
Winter is an ideal time to watch Yellowstone’s spectacular wildlife. Deep snow brings animals down to lower elevations, and they are easier to observe against the park’s stark white landscape.
Yellowstone Day Adventures offer a convenient, family-friendly wildlife watching experience. Our expert naturalist guides will know just where to go to make the most of your time in the park.
Instructors: Yellowstone Forever Institute Staff
Dates: Winter tours begin December 19, 2018
We’ll pick you up at dawn, when the wildlife action is at its peak, and head out to Yellowstone’s Lamar Valley. We’ll keep an eye out for the usual suspects including elk, pronghorn, and bison, as well as the park’s famous wolf packs.
Along the way, you’ll enjoy in-depth, facilitated group discussions based on your interests as well as fascinating commentary on the behavior and ecology of Yellowstone’s wildlife. We’ll also enhance your experience with the use of state-of-the-art spotting scopes and the latest digiscoping technology, which allows you to capture what you’re seeing in the scope on your smartphone.
Tours operate Wednesdays and Fridays during the winter season. Tours include early morning pickups in Gardiner, Montana, breakfast and hot beverages, expert instruction, all transportation, scopes and binoculars, and digiscoping equipment.
