Bison and Steam at Midway Geyser Basin
Two Yellowstone icons come together. Bison will often place themselves in and around hot springs and steam to stay warm during Yellowstone’s harsh winters. Here, a group of bison are standing on top of Excelsior Geyser Crater’s runoff channels at the park’s Midway Geyser Basin. These channels dump over 5 million gallons of water a day into the Firehole River. Thank you to renowned photographer Tom Murphy for sharing this excellent video with us.
