Institute Programming Manager
Location: Gardiner, MT (Hybrid)
Full-Time / Exempt
The Institute Programming Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for developing and implementing dynamic educational programs that connect participants to the ecological, cultural, and conservation priorities of Yellowstone National Park. This position not only creates the vision for innovative, world-class programming but actively engages in the work required to bring these programs to life.
The Institute Programming Manager leads program development from concept to execution, ensuring offerings align with Yellowstone Forever’s mission and educational standards, including Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). This role supervises the Institute Program Coordinators, providing guidance on participant recruitment strategies and collaborating with YF’s marketing team to create and execute outreach plans that maximize program visibility and enrollment. Additionally, the Manager develops and manages program-specific budgets, working closely with staff to track expenses and revenue to ensure financial sustainability.
This role requires both strategic vision and the ability to dive into the details, demonstrating creativity, strong organizational skills, and a collaborative mindset. The Institute Programming Manager is instrumental in advancing Yellowstone Forever’s mission through high-quality educational programming that inspires lifelong connections to Yellowstone.
Facilities
Maintenance Manager
Location: Gardiner, MT
Full-Time / Hourly / Non-Exempt
The Maintenance and Construction Manager plays a critical role in YF’s operations by working as an integral part of our Facilities team leading operational, preventative, and cyclic maintenance activities and construction projects. The work to maintain and improve YF’s properties and facility systems ensures the safety and comfort of people using the facilities, including offices, housing, retail areas, campus infrastructure, and all other YF owned/operated infrastructure. This position is primarily responsible for the care, maintenance, and improvement of building components and systems, as well as major projects requiring skilled carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical and HVAC work. Leading and accomplishing the work will involve working independently, leading other facilities staff and volunteers, and/or obtaining and overseeing the services of contractors and subcontractors. This position reports to the Facilities and Sustainability Director and in their absence serves as the Acting Director for the Facilities Department. Success in this position requires a broad range of trades skills, the ability to formulate both short- and long-term facility maintenance plans, the ability to adapt to and manage emergent and/or emergency facility maintenance needs and projects, rigorous attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, the ability to write accurate scopes of work for contracts, project management, and the ability to collaborate within the Facilities Department and across the organization.
Facility Project Manager
Location: Gardiner, MT (Hybrid)
Full-Time / Exempt
The Facility Project Manager plays a critical role in Yellowstone Forever’s operations, the Director of Facilities and Sustainability and other staff to plan, budget for, execute, contract, and manage infrastructure projects of all sizes in and around Yellowstone National Park (YNP). This position has dual core responsibilities: they are responsible for planning and managing YF’s facility infrastructure projects as well as acting as the onsite owner’s representative for YF in National Park Service (NPS)/Yellowstone Forever’s cooperative projects in Yellowstone National Park.
Duties include trades work, all aspects of project planning and management, contract development and management, project scheduling, and all other aspects of construction projects through completion. The Facility Project Manager collaborates closely with other YF departments and staff to plan and fulfill facility projects; excellent communication, teamwork, and interdepartmental collaboration are key to the success of this position. Proven success with NPS process management, compliance, and cooperative cross-organizational teamwork is a must.
Retail
Park Store Associate (Seasonal)
Location: Greater Yellowstone National Park Area as Assigned, Wyoming/Montana
Full-Time / Seasonal / Non-Exempt
Dates: Positions available for Spring 2025 thru Fall 2025 have a start date range from April/May and end date range of Sept/Oct/Nov 2025. Stores have varied seasonal open and close dates.
The Park Store Associate is a critical role in the daily operation of Yellowstone Forever Park stores at visitor centers and contact stations throughout the Greater Yellowstone National Park Area. The associate represents “the face” of the organization by working on the front lines and often in partnership with naturalist rangers from the National Park Service. Associates assist and engage visitors with purchases of educational products, explain our supporter program and recruit new members, and help answer visitor questions about Yellowstone National Park. Success in this position requires outstanding visitor/customer service skills and a passion for Yellowstone National Park and its preservation and sharing that passion with others.
Warehouse Associate (Seasonal)

The Retail team of YF is focused on delivering exceptional experiences in our stores both in the park and in surrounding areas and on our e-commerce site. The Warehouse Associate plays a critical role in Yellowstone Forever’s operations and is responsible for performing an array of duties including receiving and accounting for inventory, binning and transferring inventory, picking and packing inventory for delivery to stores, occasionally driving the delivery vehicles/truck, safely handling heavy boxes by hand, moving pallets within the warehouse and on and off of trucks using mechanized equipment. The Warehouse Associate must enjoy the physical challenges of this job, be detail oriented and accurate, have good communication skills, and maintain a positive attitude during very busy periods of seasonal operations.

The Warehouse and Retail Assistant must enjoy the physical challenges of this job, be detail oriented and accurate, have good computer and communication skills, and maintain a positive attitude during very busy periods of seasonal operations.
Retail Store Assistant Manager (Seasonal)

The Retail Store Assistant Manager plays a critical role in the field overseeing the active engagement, greeting, and recommendations to our customers. The Assistant (Asst.) Manager is the “face” of Yellowstone Forever to our customers and visitors in our day-to-day Yellowstone Forever Park Store operations. As a brand ambassador, the Asst. Manager must be a knowledge expert about Yellowstone Forever and our retail product, institute courses and instruction offerings, and our philanthropy efforts and supporter programs. Ensure that there is a continual effort to provide the highest quality visitor experience possible. Closely coordinate with the Retail Store Manager in executing the retail merchandising, marketing, and communication plans in assigned Park Stores and proactively looking for ways to enhance the visitor experience. Success in this position requires an exceptional attitude and desire for proactive customer engagement, an unrelenting pursuit of excellence, and a drive for continual growth and improvement.

The Retail Store Manager, in close coordination with the Retail Operations and Visual Merchandising Manager, is also responsible for executing the retail merchandising, marketing, and communication plans in their assigned Park Store(s) and proactively looking for ways to enhance the visitor experience and developing recommendations to senior retail staff. Additionally, the Retail Store Manager will assist in training, and developing Park Store Associates. Success in this position requires excellent supervisory skills and customer engagement, experience capturing and analyzing KPIs, managing core retail operations systems, unrelenting pursuit of excellence, and a drive for continual growth and improvement.
Retail District Manager

The Retail District Manager plays a critical role in overseeing day-to-day Yellowstone Forever Park Store operations in assigned stores at visitor centers and contact stations around the greater Yellowstone National Park area. The Retail District Manager supervises store managers assigned to specific stores as defined by the Retail Operations and Visual Merchandising Manager and is responsible for the daily execution of effective retail operations. To include training store managers, inventory management, daily/weekly/monthly reporting, ensuring store cleanliness and presentation expectations is maintained by store managers, tracking and relaying key performance indicators (KPIs), and overseeing related systems, working to provide the highest quality visitor experience possible.
Volunteer
Campus and Program Volunteer
Location: Lamar Buffalo Ranch, Yellowstone National Park or Yellowstone Overlook Field Campus, Gardiner, MT
Employment Type: Volunteer
The Campus and Program Volunteer supports the YF Institute field seminars and Yellowstone Overlook field campus. Each YF Institute field seminar is supported by one of our Campus and Program Volunteers. Field seminars are based at the Lamar Buffalo Ranch field campus, the Yellowstone Forever classrooms in Gardiner, or another location in the park. The Yellowstone Overlook field campus is based in Gardiner and provides a location for adult students and youth groups to stay in comfortable lodging during their stay while participating in YF programs. Campus and Program Volunteers welcome and host students, orient them to Yellowstone Forever and the facility, assist instructors in logistical aspects of courses, drive the 14-passenger mini-bus for all field trips, assist in risk management in the field, and maintain and clean campus facilities. Campus and Program Volunteers also provide linen service and basic maintenance services at the Yellowstone Overlook field campus. Success in this position requires a welcoming demeanor, being a responsible and independent worker and being able to assist with the needs of various students. Depending upon the needs of Yellowstone Forever, Campus and Program Volunteers may spend more time or less on certain duties.
