Join us for an unforgettable evening screening the award-winning documentary Out There: A National Parks Story (@outthere.film) at The Elm in Bozeman, MT. The film follows two childhood friends embarking on a 10,000-mile road trip through the U.S. national parks to share stories of the incredible people they meet along the way.

Presented by Yellowstone Forever, director Brendan Hall will be joining for a talkback alongside Yellowstone Forever’s Christina White, author and artist George Bumann, and cultural artist and educator Joseph Pichardo. After a sweeping film festival run and screenings with organizations across the country, we are thrilled to bring this inspiring film to Bozeman.

In the documentary, a young filmmaker and his childhood friend set off on a 10,000-mile road trip through the U.S. national parks, leaving home with little more than a camera and a desire to understand what connects people to these wild places. What begins as a summer road trip becomes a transformative journey, capturing untold stories of those who protect, visit, and find healing in the parks. Through intimate interviews, breathtaking cinematography, and a profound original music score, Out There uncovers a deeply human portrait of the parks – revealing them as places of reflection, resilience, and connection across generations and cultures. A stunning tribute and grassroots love letter, Out There reimagines what it means to find belonging in the natural world, and the power of public lands to bring us back to ourselves.

We look forward to sharing this ode to the natural world with you as we reflect on our role in protecting Yellowstone, and all national parks, for future generations.

🔊 There is no sound like that of a bull elk bugle. The elk rut has begun in areas throughout the park, but particularly in and around Mammoth Hot Springs.

Even though the rut can take place in busy areas of the park like Mammoth, it is extremely important to remain cautious and alert. These are wild animals and bull elk are much more unpredictable and aggressive this time of year.

Give them plenty of room and listen to directions of park rangers who are out monitoring elk activity and directing traffic to keep you safe.
